Dr. Morales obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Oviedo in 2002. He received a MEC-Fulbright fellowship for a postdoctoral stay at the University of California San Diego, which was later extended with an FP7-Marie Curie Outgoing International Fellowship. In 2007, he returned to the University of Oviedo as an assistant professor and joined the Center for Research in Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology in Asturias. In 2010, he moved to the University of the Basque Country –UPV/EHU as an Ikerbasque Research Professor. He is also affiliated with the Basque Center for Materials, Applications, and Nanostructures (BCMaterials).
He has extensive experience in magnetism and nanomagnetism, focusing on the novel properties of materials with reduced dimensionality. He has coordinated both national and international grants, exploring physical phenomena for spintronics and pioneering biomedical applications for diagnosis and therapy.
